Did you know ?
In parts of Nepal, Sikkim and north Bengal, you can also get unfilled plain steamed dough called “tingo/tingmo”. These are often shaped like a lotus for visual appeal.
Short on time ?
This 10 ingredient chicken momos comes together in less than an hour and surely satisfy your family&friends. Though this is not the original recipe but a modified one which you can make out of simple ingredients available at your home itself💁🏻♀️
Ingredients you will need:
- 1 cup All purpose flour
- 250 grams Minced Chicken
- 1 onion finely chopped
- Finely chopped spring onion
- Finely chopped Coriander leaves
- 1/2 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- 2 tsp soya sauce
- 3 tsp Szechwan sauce (can be replaced by chilli sauce)
- 1/2tsp vinegar
- Salt as per taste
PREPARATION:
1.Preparation of the Dough: Make a dough out of all purpose flour using salt, oil& water as per need.Make a firm dough.Cover the dough with moist napkin or kitchen towel. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
2.Preparation of filling: Finely chop onions (you can also add more veggies like capsicum and carrot) All the ingredients in the filling should be finely chopped. Add all onion, spring onion greens, ginger garlic paste and coriander. Time for all the sauces add soya sauce, dash of vinegar and Szechwan sauce (I have the used knorr one) and salt as per your taste .

3. Shaping Momos: Divide the dough into equal small portions. Take a rolling pin, and start rolling those balls. Turn those flour balls into a thin round disk by dusting flour on the rolling board. Remember the disk should not be thick keep it thin enough. Put a spoon of filling in the centre of the circle and continue making pleats and joining them. Make sure to close it properly.
4.How to steam momos: For steaming you can either use a steamer or a plain colander. You can also steam your momos in your idli container. Take a plain colander pan or the colander tray used in momo or in idly steamer. Grease it with refined oil(to avoid sticking), arrange the momos on it. Or to make it oil-free, instead of greasing, put cabbage . Place water below the colander and let it boil cover the pan/steamer on medium flame. After 15/20 mins you can flip them if you want

Once the covering appears to be transparent it seems to be cooked 💁🏻♀️. When all the chicken momos are steamed up, serve it hot with spicy chili garlic chutney.
