Ready in 60 minutes.
Serves 4-5 people.
Ingredients :-
- 1 cup Maida
- 1 cup Soya Granules
- Finely Chopped
- 1 Onion
- 1 small Carrot
- 2-3 Green chillies
- Garlic 5- 6 cloves
- Ginger 2 inches
- Sauces
- Vinegar 1 tsp
- Szechuan Sauce 1 tsp
- Chilli Sauce 1 tsp
- Dark Soya Sauce 1 tsp
Preparation :-
Step 1 :- Making Dough Take one Cup of Maida in a Vessel add pinch of salt (approx ¼ tsp) and knead it using water and oil. Rest it for 30 minutes.
Step 2 :- Making Stuffing 1.Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a pan add finely chopped green chillies, garlic cloves and ginger.
2.Add onion and carrot and sauté it. Cover the lid for 2 to 3 minutes and lower the Gas Flame.
3.Add Soya Granules(if you don’t have one check the tips below)
4.once the veggies get cooked and mix it well and cover the lid for 2-3 minutes and Turn off the Gas.
Step 3 :- Shaping the Momos. 1.Divide the dough into small equal size balls.
2.Take each dough ball on a lightly dusted board, roll each dough ball into a thin circle.
3.The edges have to be thin and center have to be thick.
4.Apply water with your finger tip or with a small pastry brush towards the circumference.
5.Place 2 or 3 tsp of your stuffing exactly in the centre of the circle.
6.Lift one side of the edge and start pleating. You can refer the picture below. Join all the pleats in the centre.
Step 4 :- Steaming Veg Momos. 1.Grease a steamer pan with oil.Arrange momos in the pan, keeping space between them.
2.You can also use idli pans or pressure cooker to steam. Steam them for 20 to 30 minutes.
3.If using a electric cooker or steamer pan it takes 10 mins (approx)
4.Steam them till the outer cover becomes transparent. Don’t overcook as then the outer cover, becomes dense and chewy. The steaming time may vary upon the thickness of momos’ cover.
5.Try touching the momos it should not be sticky. This means momos are done and it will have a transparent look Serve Hot Momos with momo chutney or red chilli-garlic chutney.
Tips :-
- If you do not have Soya Granules you can soak the soya chuncks in hot boiling water. After 10 mins drain all the water from the soya chunks and grind for only 10 20 secs till we get the granules and you get your home made soya granules .
- Try making your stuffing bit moist for making your momos juicy.
